Unpopular TV opinion: There are numerous series that deserve reboots because they never got to achieve what they were capable of with their storytelling the first time around and can be brought back without being fundamentally altered to fit the present.

Firefly is like the ultimate case of a show never getting close to what it could've been.

I have to say that Firefly can be salvaged. Ignore everything that has come before, and have Joss start from scratch and do the story that he had planned all along. Whether or not you hire back some of the old cast... I don't know.
