If you have any ideas on suggestions on how best to raise money for the Pushshift project, please get in contact with me. For the first stage of funding, I am looking to raise $25,000.

For stage 1 of fund-raising, my goal is to increase the storage capacity of the ES cluster and also increase the number of nodes within the cluster (by 2 or 3 servers). I am starting to run low on storage space and the data growth is faster than I originally calculated.

Ask for academics using the data to write you in to one of their grants?

That's a good idea -- I need to spend some time reading about the grant process and how grants work fundamentally. I am working on a presentation to describe what Pushshift is and all the services Pushshift provides. I think that will be helpful in this process.

Yup. There are lots of models but the easiest may be if you create a ‘support plan’ for people using your data and price it low enough to get in the discretionary threshold (under 3k most US Universities) a friendly PI could pay you that way.
