Is there a way to render images so that the rest of us see them as the colorblind do? (the R dichromat package, IIRC)
Seeing what you can't see might provide that "ugh, really!?" response you need for twitter to fix this.
Yeah, there are sites that allow color sighted folks to see how a given page or image looks to people w/ various types of color blindness.

Not always. My color blind brother first pointed that out to me.
