@YouTube Can you help me understand why my browser periodically loses the Dark Mode setting and re-engages autoplay, even though I don't sign out nor block cookies? A preference setting should remain in place until the user changes it, otherwise it's not a preference. Thoughts?

That's odd. Clearing your browser's cache and cookies may help clear things up, here's how: https://yt.be/help/Cko1 . Let us know if this helps.

Thanks, I'm concerned I'll have then cleared everything (PW, etc) I'll give it a go and set again thereafter, thanks. A lot of other sites will suffer if I clear everything so I'll just focus on youtube-related bits. Will advise after a few days to test it out.

I can confirm that clearing the cookies and cache, then setting dark mode on and autoplay off, after 1 week those two settings disappear, browser reverts. I never logged out, but autoplay is back on, and dark mode is off. Actually I tested the use case before I wrote last week.

Thanks for trying those steps. As a next step, we'd recommend sending a feedback report directly from your YouTube account with these steps: https://yt.be/help/RYwc . While you may not get a direct response, we do review and use the details to investigate and fix issues.

Happy to do so, thanks. I don't see a clear reason why settings should revert at all, troubleshooting on the user side has yielded no explanation. I imagine youtube cookies don't otherwise expire at weekly intervals.
