I think a key thing to flag here is the view expressed by this twitter employee should not be controversial, but Twitter is so worried about upsetting conservative politicians that it won't publicly touch this argument with a 10-foot pole

Not controversial in that the strategies taken against ISIS were *so* scorched earth and *so* intense that of course a similar approach against white supremacy would piss off Republicans

Why wouldn’t anybody accept that trade-off?

Seems like a win/win situation to me!

Banning white supremacist politicians would absolutely offend white supremacists. But it would also encourage certain Republicans to moderate the language they use on social media. Why would that not be a good thing?

I imagine Twitter’s nightmare is about an algorithm meant to help ban white supremacist content that could end up banning Trump.

Actually,
@jack Yes, the fuck it would. I would argue that if a Republican or any politician is retweeting white supremacy then they are the 1st ones who should be shamed & banned. We can’t allow public figures to get away w/ being racist/white supremacist. Your logic sucks!
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

It's a private platform. It would absolutely be acceptable.
