within the last few weeks, received thank you emails and notes from 3 mentees (women swes and/or pocs) who have been offered internships or full-time employment in ar/vr at unity and apple. truly fills my heart and a great start to 2023.
I won’t watch that video. I’m very concerned that I live in a society where the video had a drop time like it was a prime time show. Something is deeply wrong. My love and prayers to Tyre Nichols’ family.
don't like 'learning from las vegas' description :( required reading for architects and urban designers. it's about the las vegas strip failure in having too much stimuli. that spatial environments should tend towards usability. (textbook version of hyper-reality by
would also add the "fire sermon" by the buddha for the explanation of consciousness and namarupa (name + form) and breaking away from mind-body dualism.
Enjoy AR programming on your iPad with Swift Playgrounds 4. You can check the AR display in the preview. The code of the AR Basic App project works almost as it is.🌛

can i commission him to make a custom one for me? heaven really can exist on the material plane! i've seen the pearly gates! –– built by alex girbinger #gaming#gamingsetup#nintendoswitch🤯
people forget that don norman is an electrical engineer first. can't make design frameworks on top of a hardware/software ecosystem that is quicksand.
things have to work and be scalable first. if you want to refer to his work? refer to the embodied cognition work.
don's whole premise for vr is it's like "discovering fire again" for ref: scott klemmer is the prof who made the well-known stanford hci design course. his student, mike, is the co-founder of instagram. instagram is the pinnacle result of that type of thinking.
the "design of everyday things" truisms do not hold for ar/vr. even don norman and scott klemmer know this. so always surprised when designers try to pigeonhole ar/vr/3d design into that framework.
starts tomorrow! was founded in 2016 by steve and scott. helped organize for the first 3 years. like hackmit, it's put on by students and volunteers so thank them at the event. 💐
attending virtually on discord to help debug and work through build freakouts.
if releases the headset in 2023? excited for app developers to transition to ar/vr but not emotionally prepared for the inevitable grifting that will occur. meta's "metaverse" gave more publicity to ar/vr but public interest was mostly in web3/crypto.
