My coworkers decided to turn on captions for my Span<T> talk. Turns out they use automated translation for that. The result: Manatee Memory

This PR came to be because we didn't want to be adding null checks everywhere in our code for a value which could almost never be null. Instead just make it non-null in that edge case, handle the edge specially in the one place that mattered, and make our code base simpler.

Another positive impact adding nullable annotations to roslyn is having is it's making us revisit design decisions. For example is it really worth having this API return null when we could just use empty string instead?

Interesting. Turns out this is actually controllable on the Azure DevOps side. Can get it to work if you toggle the cross plat compat settings. Thanks

TIL: GitHub can handle colons in file names but Azure DevOps cannot. This can lead to problems if you mirror commits between the two systems.

Do you - include infra improvements in showcases / team demos? - track the quality / reliability? - document it?

Infrastructure is a product. Treat it as such and you’ll be rewarded. Treat it like anything else and you’ll be frustrated with the results.

Current guess: the C# team went to a LISP boot camp for either research or as a team building exercise and this is what happened.

I love mixing tuples and generics Task<List<(TestRun TestRun, List<TestCaseResult> Failed)>>

Anyone have a great open source ASPNET Core Web API project that you like as an example (or perhaps your own)? Looking for some good real projects for some tool validation.

In C# 8 (VS 16.3) the compiler enforced nullability attributes on callers, to affect nullability or produce warnings. In VS 16.5, the attributes will also be enforced on implementers, affecting nullability and producing warnings within method bodies.

For 10+ years at Microsoft everyone's identity was essentially their email address. This is how you added to email lists, granted permissions, signed off. Now the identity is your GitHub username and there is no easy way to map between the two.

One of the more frustrating parts of having Active Directory at work but living life in is 10 times a day I have to ask my coworkers: "what is your GitHub user name"?

Occasional the red team sends us fake phishing emails to test whether we’ll say click a risky link. What they should really be doing is sending fake Bedlam emails and flagging everyone who replies all.
