Here, I opened the app fresh, not following the link. (search history has been turned off for a while) I typed in @benshapiro's name and essentially got the same video results as I did from Steven's link. Only the channel wasn't on top in his. (2/2)pic.twitter.com/0uHoaFHT5v

Ah, I can answer that one. It’s because YouTube does poorly with spaces. Try “benshapiro” and it works fine.pic.twitter.com/qZsPEZ2VSv

It’s not always consistent, as you can see from below, but I ran into a couple of issues with channels that have spaces in them.pic.twitter.com/ynQHwkRULi

Is this censorship? Highly unlikely, since most of the folks Crowder claimed a search wouldn’t work for worked just fine.

YouTube is only showing their videos when it recognizes and shows the channel. None of the other videos that show in the results are from their channels. THAT is the point. Searching for "turks" though gets you TYT's channel with videos, PLUS 7/10 top results after were TYT vids

Look at the bomber guy result though. The top result wasn’t his either. It’s rankings / SEO / whatever you wanna call it. Not censorship.

His were still 2 of the first 3 results seen in that screengrab. That isn't the equivalent of not having a single video of yours show up in the top 50 results.

First 50? Took me about 8 to get to one of his. Lauren Chen, after showing her channel and the latest there, took 11. Neither of those are close to 50.pic.twitter.com/3AEVMhAaiw

You can either believe that it’s a conspiracy which some only effects very specific right wing accounts in very specific ways while also impacting certain leftist or apolitical channels in the same way, or maybe it’s an algorithmic thing. One seems way more likely...

If it's an algorithm then it's designed to act that way. It's not a coincidence. It being "in the code" just means it's handled automatically, but it was put in the code manually with intent. Algorithms are not unbiased. Look up Steven's case against Facebook for example.

Well, no, not exactly. All code isn’t perfect. So, the way they measure relevance may be causing an unforeseen result. It’s where bugs and exploits come from. Yes it could be intentional, but given the hilariously deceitful filtered link I’m gonna say...not...
