I didn't know you could make 茶色 into the i-adjective 茶色い. I found 黄色い in the dictionary too, but nothing for like 灰色, 金色 or 銀色. Can't you do that in general?

Only some colours have adjective forms. Some have to be connected to a noun with the NO particle.

So there are noun colors as well? I always though the colors from i-adjectives with the i dropped were na-adjectives (青, 赤 etc) were na-adjectives, but they seem to be nouns. I guess you can never say 青な〜 or 赤な〜 then

Not na-adjectives unfortunately! All colours have noun forms. But only some of them can turn into i-adjectives. (E.g. 赤い 青い 黒い 白い) Noun + の - 緑 ピンク オレンジ
