Delighted to share the first publication of my PhD! We used quantitative text analysis to explore the literature on gender & vector control and found (1) strong spatial heterogeneities in research & (2) lack of gender mainstreaming in the development and delivery of VC policies.

I've done a special Christmas version of my Siegfried Sassoon pastiche. I hope you enjoy it.

    After Siegfried Sassoon’s ‘Base Details’

Downing Street Christmas Party Edition

Mark Grainger

If I were posh, and blond, and hard of heart,

I’d host a Christmas do at Downing Street,

While making normal families stay apart.

You wouldn’t see me there; I’d be discreet,

Chugging champagne and snogging—cautiously,

To give myself the best chance to deny

That there’s one rule for them and one for me.

Outside I’d let the bodies pile high.

And when drilling the denial with my staff,

They’d rehearse the bald-faced lie—and laugh.

In case you needed another reason to wear a face mask on public transport, this is the level of that I measured on the tube this morning. It will take time to clean the network from pollution but wearing a mask is an easy way to reduce exposure in the meantime
