Sulfur hexafluoride is invisible and denser than air. The foil boat is so light that it floats but once you pour some of the gas into it it sinks, just like water.

When you burn steel wool, it becomes heavier. Iron becomes heavier when oxidized and when steel wool is lit it basically speeds up the oxidation causing the weight to increase. Oxygen particles attach during combustion. ©Nigel Baldwin.
