Why are big companies who use open source software not taxed for using the software? A small tax on profits (even a fraction of a percent) could fed to the developers to ensure the survival the software. Since many companies use OS software and do not pay they should be taxed.

Here's the thing. Nobody cares and nothing will help. Large companies have embraced FOSS precisely because it saves them $$ hiring devs who can write FOSS, more $$ than they might save by Capitalizing the costs as they used to do. Devs are still just a cost center

You might be able to convince me that public policy ought to encourage FOSS by incentivizing private corp contributions to FOSS projects. Committ your git changes = company saves money Then again, removing funding from my kid's school just so companies can use free software = :(
