    Picking vegetables for a day feels nothing picking vegetables for a living, week in, week out. Surviving on £20 for a week does not teach anyone what it’s like to survive on £20 a week for years at a time. Pick broccoli for a month, love. On full hours. Then write your article.

    A classic of the “how hard can it be?” genre from The Telegraph in which a journalist heads to pick vegetables — starting two hours later than the usual crew and concludes that while it’s exhausting it would be worth it for the money even though she is just playing at it.
