This is absolutely a subtweet but I’ll never understand the conquest mentality that’s developing among some UXWs. Why present yourself as the dominant (or indeed, the ONLY) one in the field? It’s silly also because it doesn’t build your profile, it diminishes the whole field
For me one of the best things about UX writing being still sort of fledgling is that there’s so much opportunity to build the field. There can be plenty of work for everyone, and nobody needs to be The One True Writer. It must be lonely to be like that
We want enough work to keep our little company healthy, sustainable and fun. But we don’t need more than we can handle. Who can? So I just wanna reiterate: I’m totally here to make friends Capitalism is terrible and that makes it feel less rotten
And there are so many fun and nice people among all the UX writers and content designers and strategists! Maybe someday we will need to compete sometimes, but right now it’s really unnecessary because there’s so, so much room. I wanna enjoy it while it’s like this!
