That’s not the same as what he wrote. Read the quote again.

The impression I’ve gotten is that there isn’t a big “stop trying to prevent fraud” cohort.

It's disquieting how little evidence exists that Thomas does not sacrifice puppies and kittens to Belial.

Innocent until proven guilty. unless we want you to be guilty, then it's guilty until proven innocent.

Isn't it more like a liability thing? Like that plane thing over the weekend: Just because there's no evidence of serious negligence doesn't mean there can't be exploration into safety improvements.

No, there is a much better criminal analogy: "Evidence you did not commit murder is not sufficient to get the public to trust that you did not commit murder." Cases in point: O.J. Simpson and Casey Anthony.

It’s more like: Lack of evidence that you committed murder is insufficient to give us confidence that you didn’t murder someone. Different but still wrong, since it removes the burden from the accuser.

this was precisely the argument the DA continued to use in the central park jogger case after they got DNA results that turned out to be...none of the five children convicted of the crime. That it just meant that there was a SIXTH perpetrator.
