Both of those things are fine, but both of those things are tremendously difficult to deal with when something super important happens, because the Positional and Performative Tracks have already been laid.

People are complex and complicated entities, but not on Twitter, because it’s hard to be complex and complicated in 180 characters. And with a pandemic and the economic response, perhaps the most complex and complicated obstacle we’ve faced in a long time, that’s… hard.

Think about it like this — Twitter is essentially the performance of conversations. Like a phone call, but if both people were on stage being observed by an audience who were aware only of the actors’ affiliations. (This is probably why this place is so media-focused.)
