I’ve said it before; I’ll say it again: universities should be developing their prevention & containment strategies NOW. This is going to hit dorms & other student housing this fall/winter.
So, monkeypox—a virus that can cause blindness, disfigurement, extreme complications, & death—has been reported on at least 5 college campuses & in county jails. It’s also infecting kids. There is no plan for fall/winter. We cannot accept doing nothing.

This reminded me of a conversation I had with a Ukrainian friend the previous night. He told me that there’s no word for frustration in Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian or Bulgarian. So we discussed ways to describe it and landed on somewhere between anger and disappointment.
That had never happened to Dodo before because his life had been so peaceful before humans bothered him. 5 yo said “yeah he probably never felt such big feelings before. Like being sad or mad.”
Then one day humans (they’re usually the bad guys in my stories 😆) found Dodo and his cave and were scared of him so they kept trying to hurt him. Dodo got super frustrated and breathed fire from his mouth.
