Best advice I got in art school was to let yourself be unconnected, don’t be afraid to start things and realize halfway through they’re not going anywhere, or they don’t mean anything. Sometimes you have to push the garbage half-cooked ideas out to get to the diamonds.
What do you do when your ambition to create something is at an all-time high, but your creative fuel is at an all-time low? Can’t seem to conceptualize or connect dots, but the spirit is willing.

Oh! I like this. I used to do a whole lot of freeform writing in my early twenties and gave it up after some time. Maybe I should get back into that.

Stop trying! Get out of your own way and let the creativity come through you. Go to something relaxing like to take a walk, watch birds, whatever it is that relaxes you and observe your thoughts in a way that allows you to not follow them per se but just watch, see where it goes
