Despite the rather inflammatory title the article makes some valid points. "The question, which they had not fully considered, was: How much would they have to take away in order to make civil rights a reality?" What's being taken away?
Yes, by creating new rights that conflicted with more grounded and more traditional rights ensconced in the Constitution. Like they are trying to do with the Second Amendment.
If the Dems doomed themselves by embracing civil rights, the nation is doomed.
