    FWIW, despite the popular view, the best directed Star Trek film of all time is the first one. Robert Wise did an epic job and he was let down by the script and the special fx. It’s a real movie with scope and spectacle.

    Watching the original GHOSTBUSTERS. What all the latter incarnations never seemed to get was that it’s wasn’t a mythology or a franchise. It was just about the jokes. And the jokes were pretty good.

    In the 50s and 60s especially, Broadway plays (not musicals) were a huge source of content for films. That feels distant, like jazz. Do plays still matter?
