Anybody have any good alternatives to Google Calendar? Only requirements are: self-hosted data and good mobile integration. Optional and nice would be Thunderbird integration.

When you eat out, the assumption should be that the restaurant is using the cheapest oils possible - seed oils. I've been avoiding restaurants this year and have noticed significant improvement in my sleep, level of inflammation. I can actually breath through my nose at night.

I used to wonder "what's our generation's smoking?" Now I think I know.

Seed oil consumption is the most significant change in the human diet since obesity rates began to rise. These oils are now the most consumed food in the world after rice and wheat and make up 20% of our daily calories. They are the most likely cause of our obesity epidemic.

Great write-up from on the value of vaults in Bitcoin. I really like the model he introduces of proactive vs. reactive custodial security. Vaults uniquely give us the ability to be reactive instead of just hoping that our proactive measures were good enough.

Bitcoin covenants are a powerful and promising potential feature that could be added to the protocol. In this article I cover their lengthy history, complexities and trade-offs, and why it's worth continuing to discuss proposals for enabling them. blog.keys.casa/why-bitcoin-ne

Okay Bitzlato is still a really funny word, but this is some great investigative reporting.

I read through the Bitzlato FinCen Order and it's a pretty crazy read. There could be more to this action than originally expected. FinCen labels Bitzlato as a convertible virtual currency (CVC) exchanger with operations in Russia that provides Peer-to-Peer (P2P) services. 🧵

Female voice was a co-pilot, not pilot, but the disconcerting thought remains...

On the tapes you can clearly hear the voice of the American Airline pilot who almost killed hundreds of people: it's a young female. Meanwhile all our airlines have pledged to increase female pilot hiring to 50% of total force. twitter.com/thenewarea51/s…

It's grant-seeking season for me, and I wrote up what I have been working on in 2022 and what I plan to work on this year: continuing my current Bitcoin network monitoring efforts. b10c.me/blog/011-2022-

It's great catching up with for two reasons: - He's always working on something very cool. In this rip we discuss OP_VAULT. - He's always honest about how he feels about the state of the protocol. Even if it comes of bearish. Must listen.

Rip 388 of TFTC is live! @MartyBent sat down with @jamesob to discuss James' OP_VAULT proposal, what it would enable, and how it compares to other vault proposals. On top of this, James put forth a sobering view on the state of bitcoin development. tftc.io/tftc-podcast/3

Lot of people seem to be excited about having some kind of CTV proxy in Bitcoin via OP_VAULT. It'd be good if those people took to the ML to surface interesting uses of CTV, because maybe we should put some focus on CTV for activation regardless of what happens with vaults.

After chatting with node operators about htlc spam, it became clear that most don't have the tools to see whether they are affected. In response to this, I've extended circuitbreaker with a web ui. A single dash where users can see what's going on and apply limits if needed.

Earlier today dropped a proposal for a new vault implementation on bitcoin; OP_VAULT. A proper vault implementation would be an incredible win for bitcoiners as vaults would significantly de-risk cold storage by creating fail safes for users.

If someone's looking for a great first contribution to Core, it would save a bunch a people a bunch of time if you containerized the CI linters so they could be run locally and maybe stuck the Dockerfile in ./contrib/...

Vaults can make BTV theft much more difficult. In fact, they can make it so difficult that they eventually **deter** anyone from even trying to steal BTC. Will be interesting to see community reaction. Because this is a *new* idea (anti-stasis) that is pro- Store of Value.

I've just published a paper with a new proposal for how to construct vaults in Bitcoin, OP_VAULT. I think vaults are maybe the single most impactful change we could make to Bitcoin to help derisk custody at any scale. jameso.be/vaults.pdf

Anyone built any sorta complex backends with javascript/typescript/deno? Things that do async processing, database stuff, etc. Wondering how it compares to Python these days. Feels like the utility of getting good at typescript is pretty high.
