Looks like we have our first meme! I'm also on my way to Oxford, editing on the way. I'll be speaking at 11:20 on Tuesday about our field synthesis instrument, some properties of light sheet illumination profiles and a little quantitation problem inherent to LSFM

Anyone with an interest in the Moon* and a copy of ImageJ should read this thread from on how to play with the recently released / data (includes debayering settings for colour images!). * If you don't have an interest in the Moon: why not!?

Here's the "magic bowl" 🥣. Third (final?) episode after the "conical surface" and the "harmonic dish" The puzzle and its solution are in the gif (at around 1'20'' - you must be patient 🧐) (click/tap on the image to pause/resume) [made with ]

I unfortunately had to leave early to catch my flight home (right after Fabian Voigt's excellent talk) and so missed the closing remarks (and saying goodbye to many people). Were any details of shared?

The LMB welcomes Marta Zlatic as a new Group Leader. She will continue working to advance our understanding of how the structure and organisation of the central nervous system relates to its function in learning and decision making

The day before yesterday on our shared blog, Tom Leinster asked what's the expected number of periodic points for a function from a huge finite set to itself. Last night we figured it out! It's asymptotically the square root of πn/2, where n is the size of the set. (1/n)

is changing the way we do . E.g. tuning parameters of workflows becomes a completely different experience with instant feedback. We're happy and to share it with everyone! Today out in : 🥳

Does anyone know the physical dimensions of the sub-elements of the Airyscan detector? I can obtain a rough estimate from some image data, but it's not quite good enough.

Delighted to see our 🐟💚🎥🔬 paper finally out today! Since our preprint, the review process led us to expand details of method, and talk a bit more about the unexpected proliferative behaviour was able to see thanks to 24h 3D video timelapse of the beating heart.

Bonus: It also works for worms! With a few lines of code I can plot a selection of amphid neurons, interneurons etc. in 3D from within Rstudio...Next step: mapping GCaMP data onto this!

As aspiring R and neuro nerd, I was deeply impressed by this preprint from et al. Huge effort to bring neuroanatomical analysis to R, combining analysis and visualization. All backed up by extensive documentation. Open source at its best!
