Important and alarming piece by . One problem: LED lights are supposed to reduce energy use because they are 75% brighter per watt. But everywhere I go I see outdoor lighting that is 2 or 3X brighter than it was when using incandescents.

As mentions (and discusses in his new book) outdoor lights are really bad for birds and other wildlife. So turn off those outside lights (esp during migration seasons). And advocate for appropriate lighting in your community:

That's an interesting point, but your math isn't right. "75% less energy" (at minimum) does not equal "75% brighter." It's four times brighter per watt.
I envision a future where night vision goggles become so cheap and small that they are like sunglasses. And everyone wears these sunglasses at night and outdoor lighting is banned or at least obsolete
