#AnimalCrossing RE update: The generic "NES Console" you can get through a cheat code that normally says "I don't have software" can actually boot ROMs from the memory card. Booting save file crashed it :), but I got a dummy file to run that just waits for exit code. More soon...pic.twitter.com/tWsBYp9KFR

Figured out the format some more and got Pinball to boot from memory card. This was just a copy of the ROM that was already in the game in famicom.arc. Works on Dolphin stable version but crashed in a newer build... thing is the NES graphics are messed up in stable.pic.twitter.com/N01fJkdRLM

Some more tidbits: the ROM memory card files also contain ROM metadata, a banner image, and an icon. These ROMs would get their own save file on the memory card, where it would replace "] ROM" in the original filename with "] SAVE", or else just use "NES Cassette Save Data"

Cuyler found that a null pointer caused by missing metadata is what stopped these from working on newer Dolphin builds, as well as real hardware. With some basic metadata the null pointer is avoided. Here it is working in a newer Dolphin build.pic.twitter.com/9hVhEELAB0

It looks like the emulator is fairly complete. Getting some games to work just requires tweaking settings in the metadata. Got Battletoads to get through the intro sequence and actually become playable, although there are graphical glitches...pic.twitter.com/KCMKIvxYuz
