You wondered why Andrew Cuomo gets applause Jake Tapper. In part, it's because NY-ers understand that he worked really hard, and that he doesn't find focusing on covid to be "distracting." Cuomo IS worried about his state. Yes, mistakes were made--but this is 25th Amd material.

The basic reason for applause these days has changed considerably. In the Trump era, merely doing what is right or performing a simple act of kindness is worthy of a thundering standing ovation.
