What did the catholic boys think was going to happen wearing MAGA hats? March for Life-ok I get it. Lots of catholic schools go there for that, but why the hats? If my kid wanted to march for life-all good-choices, etc..but he's not wearing a political hat. Hell no.

I think there was a lack of control by the parents who were chaperoning. No way would I let my students go near that kind of mayhem. No way would I let them prance around with MAGA hats. FFS it's taunting. It certainly isn't very christian.

Yes. Let's teach our children that they have no right to express their convictions.

No, we should teach our children that walking away from an obvious aggressive altercation is an option. If they were there for the “March for Life” thing, why did they approach these men that were taunting everyone. There were plenty of different choices to be made.

The Native drummer approached them... the boys were waiting for their bus to arrive. I'll assume in the early 1900's you would be arguing a black man should moved out of the way and made different choices. Because of 'consistency'. Shame.

Singling out a random kid, drumming inches from his face for a long period of time without uttering one word is a pretty poor diffusion technique, yeah? Especially if the dude with you starts yelling at teenagers that they should go back to Europe, etc.

The mock-Indian chants by the teens sounded less like solidarity and more like mockery. Imagine this was your grandfather and maybe it will make sense. It had to hurt Mr. Phillips, like it or not.

Yep. Performing the “tomahawk chop” mockingly against a Native American elder is pretty inexcusable.

They were trying to diffuse the situation with the other group in their youthful way. They were trying to be friendly. They didn't know that Native American had an agenda to raise money off a doctored video.

Hate to burst the RW crowd, but there's still plenty of teens mocking the Elder. That's what the vid is about, and nothing is changed. The Elder himself stated that the original fracas was between CC students and the black group, who was without doubt abusive and taunting.

actually if you watch the entire 80+ min video the black "israelites" group started by insulting the "indigenous" group there including the drum guy. Then later they started in on the high schoolers all before the drummer guy marched over in front of the high school group

I watched the entire video. It doesn't change anything about that kid standing in the Native American's space with the smug intimidating look on his face. Nor does it excuse all the #Covington photos of students posing with white power symbols & other racist anti-gay stories told

Ok so that’s a “yes” u did see Phillips instigating in this case, ty. As far as learning opportunities, verbally attacking & being confrontational to others you’re trying to change doesn’t work.

No I did not see Phillips instigating. I saw 1 of the Native Am responding to a mob of MAGA hat (ie: anti-immigration) teens surrounding him -the irony of their anti-immigration rhetoric telling PoC to "go home" -he truthfully explained that they were here 100's of years b4 White
