Isn’t it best for @TeamYouTube to defend #FreeSpeech short of videos inciting aggression? Barring creators with extreme views doesn't silence them; it makes martyrs for audiences who will create echo chambers to retrench into, amplifying their distorted reality. #VoxAdpocolypse

But the reality is that they're not martyrs. They're unable to receive money from paypal or companies like that, and they've been relegated to 8chan and Gab. Lots of data to prove that their reach dramatically shrinks.https://mashable.com/article/milo-yiannopoulos-deplatforming-alex-jones/ …

For now... but if you deplatform enough of them and tick off their combined audiences...?

Then they have to make their own platform. And they won’t/can’t.

They haven’t had a need to until recently. How can you be so sure they won’t/can’t?

I guess they could, but their power is in mainstreaming themselves, not being stuck in their own echo chamber. If they were smarter, they’d just play by the platform’s rules to keep the audience they want. Don’t know Rubin.

Curious where you would draw the line for speech on private platforms?

Legally, private platforms can do whatever they want. But I would love it if a platform would draw the line at inciting/encouraging violence and harassment. On YT, no one is forcing anyone to watch any video, so I don’t see being a bigot/douche on your own ch. as harassment.

#tweetmobs and the like are harassment. But on YT, the simple ability to block or ignore comments etc. on your own channel gives you the power to defend yourself on your own ch.
