Absolutely rooting for Faye here. Gotta be worth a go tbh.

I had to do a Secret Santa for someone I’ve never met. So I got them a one way ticket to Klagenfurt

One oddity of this comment is that South Wales used to have lots of cafes and ice cream parlours, thanks to its Italian migrants. Some cling on and are excellent

Should add, that contrary to the Guardian twitter trailer, I am not an ex-prisoner but rather a student who participated in the programme. could you correct this please?

I've written about Learning Together, and how amazing it is. After Friday's attack and the cynical response to it, it's crucial that the values it stands for are fought for even harder.

Don’t use my son’s death, and his and his colleague’s photos - to promote your vile propaganda. Jack stood against everything you stand for - hatred, division, ignorance.

Throughout his personal, professional and political lives, Johnson has never concerned himself with whom he hurts or what harm he causes as long as it secures him some advantage. Trampling over the feelings and wishes of bereaved parents reaches a new low.

The state of this. No shame. Remembering two wonderful young campaigners lost too soon should be the focus not cheap social media point scoring

For example, Khan was sentenced in 2012, not 11 years ago. You’ve got to hope that wasn’t a deliberate error written into the piece to make it sound like he was sentenced while Labour was in government.

Jack Merritt previously worked closely with a member of my team. Everything I have heard about him tells us what a fine, caring person he was. Someone any parent would be proud to call their son. I send my deepest sympathy, love and condolences to his parents, family & friends.

The awful actions of the perpetrator of Jack’s death should of course not be minimised. But when he is pointed to as justification for an evermore uncaring justice system, the values that have championed should be fought for even harder. End.

The students from the prison had done terrible things, but – in part thanks to Learning Together – increasingly believed in their ability to contribute positively to their communities both within prison and once released. I’ve no doubt that they will / have. 4/

I participated in a ‘Law, Society and Justice’ course at Grendon Prison last year. We discussed topics from intersections of class and race with law through to justice for Palestine. Every week we had brilliant discussions that transcended our very different positions in life. 3/

Learning Together insists on seeing the best in people. It is unflinching in saying that – no matter someone’s past – everyone has something to contribute. The classes reflect this: students from unis and prisons learning alongside one another in genuinely mutual exchange. 2/

I knew Jack Merritt from Learning Together. He was a amazing person and I’m devastated. Certain shameless politicians are attempting to use his death to legitimate draconian sentencing changes, and so I think it's important to emphasise what he and Learning Together stand for. 1/

Well, I really hope Andrew Marr is swotting up on sentencing reform tonight given some of the outrageous and politicising statements by Priti Patel today.

Deeply sorry to hear that Jack Merritt was murdered in the terrorist attack at London Bridge. I interviewed him at Warren Hill prison about the course he ran for prisoners and university students: A fine young man, dedicated to improving people’s lives.
