Women actively defend themselves against same-sex aggression. Women perceived as sexually permissive +/or desirable attract more same-sex aggression. We show women are aware of this + some might to avoid other women's slings + arrows.

Seen a lot of posts lately about work/life balance + evils of academia. I’m not denying their existence for many (+ some disproportionately), but I also want prospective to know this: My work is to play w ideas + talk to smart people. That’s a great life!

Nice meta-analysis on gender differences in toy preference: "Boys preferred boy-related toys more than girls...girls preferred girl-related toys more than boys" (d ≥ 1.60). Girls also preferred gender-neutral toys (d = 0.29). Want to see this over time!

Third-party punishment--punishing a wrong-doer who didn't harm you--is a big deal in cooperation lit + economic games work. But when do people ACTUALLY do this in real life? Eric Pedersen, et al.'s cross-cultural recall study suggests: rarely.
