PocketStars are the latest, but this has happened in the past to JustForFans, and a few others like it. not only should we be really concerned about this crackdown on the wellbeing of sex workers affected by this, but it's also a worrying precedent for what's to come.
PayPal, MasterCard, Visa, all taking harsh stances against adult content. Apple themselves are already incredibly restrictive, and their control over half of the global market for phone software means decisions they make, like credit card companies, have a far-reaching impact.
restricting what content is allowed to be bought and sold isn't going to do anything to tackle important issues like revenge porn, CSA footage, or abuse that runs rampant in some corners of the porn industry. it just drives more of it underground, where it largely already is.
companies like PornHub absolutely should be held to task, for allowing pirated and CSA content on its platform and for the treatment of the people who work for them. but doing it this way just means people are going to struggle even more to survive and it doesn't fix the problem.
