If I'm understanding this correctly John Eastman remains a member in good standing of the @FedSoc despite have participated in & actually drawn up a plan for overthrowing the government of the United States with a transparently specious legal 'interpretation'. What am I missing?

And, FWIW, I don't see Eastman listed as a speaker at any upcoming
@FedSoc events, but he's speaking twice at@APSAtweets . -
Is Eastman still the chairman of the "Federalism & Separation of Powers Practice Group" at
@FedSoc? - Show replies

in general I agree. I think we’ve gone too far in the other direction. but to me plots against the republic itself are in a unique category, sui generis and I wld think that wld apply to a group which has fidelity to the 1787 constitution as its central point of reference.

If the group had a history of excommunicating people for outlier views, I might agree, but it doesn't -- and nothing has stopped individual members from expressing their disgust at his conduct and subsequent dissembling about it.

Funny how all you always give cover to every terrible thing Republicans do by refusing to ever engage with the substance or the outcome of their actions and are instead content to make banal points about process

How brave of the Federalist Society to not take a position on whether lawyers should try to overthrow democracy and install a dictatorship

The Federalist Society is absolutely in the business of taking positions on people and things. It's their entire reason for existing.

I agree. This whole thread is just playing with words when the truth is staring us in the face! See recent Supreme Court justices

Our society should not countenance the expression of certain ideas, including those embodied by Eastman’s memo. If the
@FedSoc will not disassociate from him, then the organization does not deserve a place in our society. -
An institution taking a position on an issue is no different from it acting in any other way. They do it all the time, and it’s perfectly natural. You may not like the positions that many institutions take, but that’s not the same point.
