In advance of today's decisions, here are some fun tidbits from @SCOTUSBlog StatPack and @AdamSFeldman. (thread)https://www.scotusblog.com/2019/06/third-interim-stat-pack-for-october-term-2018/ …

"The justices have already written more dissents this term than in either of the past two terms. The leading justice in this category is Justice Stephen Breyer with nine dissents, followed by Sotomayor and Gorsuch with eight dissents each. " /2

And which Justice has written the most majority opinions thus far? It's Clarence Thomas with 8 (though his total will certainly be matched by others before the week is out). His page count, however, might not be matched. /3

There have been only 16 5-4 decisions thus far - so this term won't set any records there. More interesting, only six of those have been decisions in which the Court split on traditional conservative-liberal lines. 4/

In fact, thus far, there are more cases (7) in which four liberal justices got a fifth vote for 5-4 win than 5-4 cases in which conservatives stuck together (6) - though this will likely change by term's end - perhaps even today. 5/5

Another fun tidbit: Thus far, Kavanaugh and Kagan have agreed in judgement more often (74%) than have Kavanaugh and Gorsuch (72%).

Kavanaugh and Gorsuch have not been aligned nearly as much as some might have expected:https://reason.com/2019/06/24/the-kagan-gorsuch-axis-and-kavanaugh-v-gorsuch-chapter-iii/ …
