There's certainly a case against removing Trump. But the promise many reluctantly pro-Trump Senate Rs made was to restrain Trumpian corruption, and their impeachment approach doesn't do that. Romney's vote is an actual check, not just a shrug.

"Two decades after the end of the cold war, Mitt Romney still considers Russia to be America’s 'No. 1 geopolitical foe.' His comments display either a shocking lack of knowledge about international affairs or just craven politics."

Have all of the people who periodically discover a Strange New Respect for Romney whenever it’s convenient ever apologized for relentlessly lying about him, trying to destroy the character of a decent man, and mocking him for warning about Russia or nah?

Romney's career from 1994-2012 was often a study in opportunism, but his conduct in the Trump era has been consistent and admirable (a short thread, 1/x).

Remember how offended those senators were at the idea that their vote could expose them to ‘head on a pike’ retribution?

So will this be like Nixon elevating McGovern, or will it be more like Clinton elevating Trump? Or will it just flop, like Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" in 2008?

“of all the amazing things that GOP senators have said in defense of their impending votes to acquit Trump,it is that a president who has been unwilling to or incapable of learning lessons will somehow have learned a lesson by being..not punished by them.”

Trump has not confirmed a record number of judges; 187 is not a record. Trump does have a record number of *appeals court* judges confirmed, but he prefers to use the inaccurate bigger claim. Fact check:

I think it was childish for Pelosi to rip up the speech. But anyone who complains about that who hasn't also spent the last four years criticizing Trump's daily taunting and insults is just a hack.
