Some truly exciting news: my grandmother, Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu, is going to be on a Forever stamp from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a nuclear physicist who helped disprove a fundamental law of nature and changed a field dominated by men. We’re so grateful for the honor.

Just because you’re a good traveler doesn’t mean you’re a good travel companion. If you’re like me, sometimes you need to remember that warmth and adaptability are the best things to bring on a trip.

Friends were meh on Bridgerton, but we’ve now watched like 27 hours of Versailles, which has poisonings, murders, sexy hair, secret spy networks, and way, way more nudity.

“The police... were unable to explain all the work required of the thieves to break and enter in order to steal only pasta.” We are awash in great pasta mysteries today.

Not sure yet if I can recommend Bridgerton, but I do recommend watching more Regé-Jean Page in cancelled-too-soon For the People.

Ooh everyone, follow — which is actually just a nice woman in Boerum Hill pulling together wait times around the city, daily, including H+H spots.

They say results come in 48 to 74 hours (maybe longer with the holiday) but I’ve always gotten them the next day.

To test my theory, I rode my bike by my usual H+H testing site and the line was “short AF” as a friend said. 8 ppl vs 45+ at CityMD. Plus you literally fill out clipboard, walk into a tent and you’re done.

In my experience, NY Health & Hospitals Covid test centers are the No. 1 best way to get tested. Only PCR, no rapid but I’ve never waited longer than 45 mins in line or more than 48 hours for results. *sent from a 3 hr wait at CityMD

Apologies to all the people who had to watch my expenses agony, with varying levels of empathy and frustration. You know who you are. (P.S. this time of year is conjuring images of me sitting in SE Asia combing through receipts in 40 different currencies.)

If I'd been using Expensify when I was 52 Places traveler, my life would have been so much easier. I still would have had to deal with the Times's torturous expenses software, but at least when it crashed I'd know where to start back up again.

I saw patients all day today. And I am still not able to be vaccinated. Meanwhile, low-risk members of Congress—some of whom attended rallies without masks and/or told shameful lies about physicians cooking the books on Covid19 for profit—have. Not cool.

“You can’t just throw money at it, or try to get everybody a job. You have to address dignity with people first." Read on Cori Bush, whose path to Capitol Hill began on the streets of Ferguson.

Get ready. Cori Bush is coming to Washington. The Black Lives Matter organizer spoke to me about her struggles, how they’ve shaped her, and her hopes for making big changes. Also her love of everything purple and sequined.

How many front line healthcare workers haven't received the vaccine, while politicians who said the virus wasn't serious and that doctors were using it to get rich have skipped to the front of the line? Asking for a friend.

Between March & July 4,200 children in New York State lost a parent to COVID-19—one out of every 1,000—and 325,000 children were pushed into or near poverty. It was one out of 600 for Black children and one out of 700 for Hispanic children. Source:
