    Our latest work now out in ! "Moving Beyond P Values: data analysis with estimation graphics". We show how estimation plots can improve statistical reasoning with elegant and informative estimation plots. 1/3

    Small sample size, but fairly canonical choices for inclusion, and part of me still believes in but hey numbers don't lie?

    Has anyone nominated Emily Blunt to be the next Bond??? Because it's 2020 and she should be

    He went on to say internal replication by each lab is basically good enough. As is external replication is not the very bedrock of scientific practice.

    I've asked a top scientist here in Singapore during a public forum on reproducibility why we aren't incentivizing replication work. He basically said it's not the funders' responsibility to do so because they need to fund "innovative work".

    This a thousand times -> "Have we disincentivized solid, cumulative work, replication studies and publishing null results — essential if science is to self-correct efficiently — with our relentless focus on groundbreaking findings?"

    why is Gardens by the Bay + MBS used to represent indigenous speculative fiction? what of it says anything about indigeneity or spec fiction? what is your impression of Singapore? a sleepy fishing village where speculative fishermen band together to construct this shit?

    I applied for MANY grants in the last 5 years - with no wins. The rejection, while typical, is beyond difficult when trying to maintain a positive, productive & supportive lab environment. I just heard my CAREER was recommended for full funding. So many feelings right now!

    No other textbook, and possibly no other book, will ever have a better opening paragraph than Goodstein's "States of Matter":

    Hopefully we might add a meta-analytic plot/analysis function to the DABEST suite! Happy to take code contributions in the meantime. 4/4

    Again, the use of meta-analysis to summarise replicated experiments across different studies has been in use for over 25 years by clinicians. Wetlab biologists working "upstream" of them have yet to catch up. 3/4

    The beewsarm in the upper panel allows inspection of all data, and visualizes each group's mean and SD. The lower panel is effectively a forest plot; the red summary diamond inversely weights each effect size according to its pooled variability. 2/4

    A step in the right direction, but a better way is to meta-analyse the set of replicated experiments. I used DABEST-Python to plot each expt's effect size, and added a summary diamond effect size as seen in forest plots! 1/4

    Sometimes, when you meet a Nature editor at a conference and start ranting about theory and measurement, they ask you to write about it. Here's a very short thing I wrote.

    v0.2.6 of DABEST-Python is now out! 🎊📊 You can now create an estimation plot in any matplotlib Axes of interest. Fully automated image composition is now possible! 💯 (This was implemented by Adam Nekimken; we welcome all contributors!)

    No suggestions about including/excluding random acts of violence, and using sparse underwritten prose...? ;__;
