It's shameful that Charles Murray was prevented from speaking at Middlebury. Left-wing authoritarians are thriving in this climate as well.

Was it shameful that Milo Y was prevented from speaking at CPAC? That Middlebury never invited (fill in blank) to speak?

you don't have to invite anyone to speak. But someone who is invited shouldn't be prevented or assaulted.

Hadn't actually read about the incident yet, sorry. The assumptions in the initial post seem off, though.

The @SPLC lists Charles as "white nationalist" It put Ayaan Hirsi Ali on "extremist"watch list. Any ideas how to challenge this?

.@CHSommers calling Murray a pseudo-scientific racist would be more accurate. But he has right to speak w/o being censored or assaulted.

of course Murray doesn't call himself racist. Neither did George Wallace. But look at the evidence: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/1994/12/01/the-tainted-sources-of-the-bell-curve/ …

So, Middlebury is required to invite speakers and give them a platform as long as they are not engaging in hate speech?

If I want to spew some nonsense, claiming that black people are inferior for example, even if it's not hate speech, 1/2

2/2 A college needn't give me a platform to spew it, and if it does, student hecklers could legally drown me out.
