    I think about this a lot, and about being a young 20-something working on the GOLD linguistics ontology, chuckling with my cohort at "vegetable gender" because despite studying language abstractly and many instantiated languages, no one talked about what we meant by gender.

    i only read one book assigned to me in my HS english classes. i became an English teacher. today, i work with teachers to foster liberatory practices in literacy classrooms. the kids gon' be alright if they don't read that wack book on your syllabus. p.s. assign better books

    As promised, here is an Ancient Greek version of estne bos in templo? If you have any interest in stimulating the use of spoken ancient Greek, then you ought to take a look. I’ve been blown away by how much language development can come through gaming.

    This semester the Classics faculty got together and donated a bunch of shelf stable groceries to the graduate students. It was one of the kindest, most thoughtful things; being able to have a stock of cans in the pantry is such a relief when you hover around the poverty line

    I grew up in a family with many siblings and not a lot of money. Although there were times when we were making do without a lot to eat I did not truly face food insecurity until I went to graduate school.
