Just finished tour, don’t even know where to start. One of the first things you notice when you walk into the shelter — no joke — a mural of Trump with the quote “sometimes losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.” Presidential murals everywhere. But that one is 1st.

One final thing that stuck out: this former WalMart is 250,000 square feet. The boys have under *40* square feet of living space each. Lights go out in there at 9PM every night. Will have more tomorrow on
@TODAYshow,@Morning_Joe &@MSNBC. Thanks for sharing this story.Show this thread -
I agree with
@lawrence. We likely wouldn’t have had a shot at getting inside Casa Padre tonight had@SenJeffMerkley not tried and been turned away before us. Here’s my conversation with them both tonight.http://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/a-look-inside-trump-immigration-facility-effectively-these-kids-are-incarcerated-1255393347839 …Show this thread -
Forgot to mention last night: folks at the shelter have a weekly policy call with feds about changes that will affect the shelter. They say they weren’t given a heads up about Trump/Sessions zero tolerance separation policy that’s led to overcrowding.https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/surge-children-separated-border-floods-facility-undocumented-immigrants-n883001 …

It was pointed out to me that temperatures are already in the triple-digits in Tornillo, Texas — where the Trump administration will build its first tent city for migrant kids. Here’s our exclusive

Since we toured the Brownsville border shelter Trump, Sessions and Sanders have all lied about what’s happening there. Overcrowding is a crisis manufactured by Trump, a direct result of new policy to prosecute 100% of people who enter the US illegally, which separates families.

I can’t f***ing believe people here are comparing this line to school cafeteria lines. Students go home to their guardians at the end of the day! To those who say they’re treated better than homeless/hungry American kids - this problem did not need to happen in the 1st place
-
Right! The 90% who came without their families need to go back. We have no room for them.

What crimes did these children commit to have to be put in prison? Do we still have a Constitution? Is this still the United States of America. Much of what the fascist Trump has done has been aberrant, but this has to be one of the worst abuses of power.
-
These palaces were built and occupied long before Trump even ran for office! These children were trafficked across unprotected crossings in bus loads! Ask your self why did there parents do that to them and why have they not made claimed to them!
-
Most of the children were taking from the arms of asylum seekers who came across the border legally. If you believe that toddlers and kids that are less than 10 years old came across without their parents, you are crazy.
-
You’re defending a practice of trafficking people that results in rape and murder on a regular basis. The Trump admin has tried to prevent abortions requested by very young illegal imm. (failed) but how did these young teens get pregnant? Horror show at border has to stop.
-
I would not be surprised to learn that some of the young girls pulled from their parents by the ICE Gestapo end up being raped on their way to the prison camps, and the girls are too scared to report it.
-
You’re intellectually dishonest and you’re using the plight of these illegal immigrants to score cheap political points. No good will come of it not that you care.

.Kids in school cafeterias eat in rotating shifts too. And they have IDs and/or barcodes to identify/pay. The only difference is under
@MichelleObama their school meals were a fraction of that size & were tasteless.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

This is exactly like a school cafeteria. 200-400 kids per lunch period by grade level is the norm.

According to NPR, 90% of these kids came by themselves without parents. In many of America's high school cafeterias, kids are eating in shifts & have barcodes scanned to get their lunches. It must be pretty rough getting a free clean bed, free billiards, & free video gaming...pic.twitter.com/MtagPJ95ax

How do you know what jail feels like unless you have been incarcerated? Secondly you people make it sound like the “children” are little toddlers. In your photo all these “kids” look close to being adults. Facts matter

I don't see cages, or the gulags that you say are there. These are DETENTION FACILITIES that have been in affect since the Obama Administration. These didn't magically appear over night. Love the selective editing.

Every school kid in America eats in a rotating schedule, because cafeterias are not big enough for the entire student body at once. THIS is what you're coming out with?
