This is a lie. is the only president to *ever* systematically separate migrant children from their parents as a stated deterrent policy. I saw those kids in cages with my own eyes — a direct result of a policy put in place by Trump and executed by .

Truth: No immigrants have been arrested at the border in recent years on terrorism related charges. Thanks to and for helping me sort this out.

  3. So yeah, Trump was just completely making stuff up in the Rose Garden today when he was making the case for his border wall. Here are some examples.

Clearly, the best way to stop people from watching something is to ban it, make it trend online, and then leave it up on YouTube. Let’s not forget that the world’s largest humanitarian crisis is happening in Yemen right now. Please donate:

Once again: Most drugs come through legal ports of entry, in cars. Most drugs come through legal ports of entry, in cars. Most drugs come through legal ports of entry, in cars. Hear for yourself from :

This is how we rang it in last night. Resolution: shred better in 2019. Happy New Year everybody. 🤙🏻

  7. Trump today: “An all concrete Wall was NEVER ABANDONED, as has been reported.” So why have *none* of Trump’s prototypes I toured in 2017 been built? Then told me “we don't have any intentions of fencing off the entire SW border. It's not necessary.”

  8. Trump blames Dems for migrant kids dying. No. DHS told reporters child hasn’t died in CBP custody in 10 years — now two in a month. Deterrence policy funneling migrants to deadly crossings started under Clinton but *only* targeted families under Trump.

  9. POTUS wants billions for his border wall. But since 2007 more undocumented immigrants overstay visas — after arriving on *airplanes* — than cross the southern border. Everyone from home healthcare workers to Harvard students. Watch to meet them.

It’s not clear what “close the Southern Border” means, but more than 5 million jobs in this country depend on trade over that border. So “give me what I want or I’ll wreck the economy” isn’t the greatest look.

  11. Here’s Trump’s chief of the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley sector *admitting* to me family separations were meant to be a deterrent in our border special back in June. Again: deterrence ➡️ dangerous crossings ➡️ death.

  12. The death of two young kids at the border was preventable and predictable. Deterrence ➡️ dangerous crossings ➡️ death. This isn't new. "Prevention through deterrence" was an official Border Patrol policy started under Bill Clinton. Trump took it further by targeting families.

  13. Trump administration sending "surge medical assistance" to border after two kids died in custody. asked if DHS could handle this. Not alone. Trump policy stretched them thin -- why asked Coast Guard, HHS, CDC to help. More Trump-made crises.

  14. Trump administration says it had been 10 years since a child died in Border Patrol custody, now two just this month. Why was this boy detained twice as long as allowed? Why did it take two dead children for a CBP medical “surge”? Latest, for .

  15. Critical question here. ⬇️ Why can't ICE pick up a family that has been waiting in jail cells *for nearly a week* but at the same time it can rapidly expand arrests of migrants living inside the US? Answer could be key to understanding the unnecessary death of this little boy.

  16. CBP says it will make changes in wake of boy’s death like secondary checks on all detainees under 10. Also looking at increased coordination with HHS, DOD and CDC. But bottom line: immigration policy as much to blame as medical response or lack thereof.

  17. The fact migrant kids are dying is horrific — but not surprising. Deterrence has long resulted in adult deaths in the desert. I pointed out to in June kids dying would be an inevitable result of Trump targeting families and asylum seekers.

  18. 72 hours is *max* anyone is supposed to be held in Border Patrol stations. This boy was held twice as long before he died. Violations of this rule aren’t new and were happening during separations as my colleagues and reported.

  19. 8 year old boy who died Christmas Eve in Border Patrol custody held with dad in the field for 3 hours. Then 2 days at a BP processing station. Then 2 days at another station. Then moved at 11:17PM to a third station. That’s when CBP says he got sick.
