    Hi, new friends. I wrote a series called ELLIE, ENGINEER (Bloomsbury). It's about a little girl who loves sparkles, fluffy skirts, unicorns, power tools, and building stuff. Most of all, it's about how there's no such thing as "girl stuff" or "boy stuff".

    This whole thread, but this tweet in particular. “From the deal announcement, this person doesn’t SEEM xyz” is a thing I see way too often, and it really needs to stop.

    But I also have seen people dragged out of the closet unwillingly in order for publishers to "protect" themselves from criticism. And that's not it. We can't reflexively demand ownvoices particularly when owning those voices can be itself a charged act of admission.

    You know how you're told Mrs. Potato Head is a woman and you just accept that she's a woman without spending a single solitary second wondering what sexual organs she was born with? Just do that with literally everyone.

    How can Hasbro continue to sell a Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. Isn't it anti-trans to do that? Let the kid decide if they want their Potato Head to be a boy or girl. One potato. Twenty-billion genders up its backside.
