One thing missing in the French article is that the spiritual warfare folk believe that any opposition is the result of demonic influence. It’s not just an impersonal force they pray against, but the people who oppose them who are are demonically motivated. 1/

2/This is why Cain, Graham, Jeffress, et al claim that those who oppose Trump oppose God. At the church level, critics of an abusive, authoritarian leader are labeled demonic & divisive & opposing God. This language is not benign & is having real consequences in our politics

I really don’t know how this essay was supposed to make her or that sect of Christianity look better. If anything, I’m more convinced than before that the upper levels are manipulating the poor and hopeless for their own power, and that there’s a huge element of crazy to it all.

Informative background on the culture of charismatic Christianity. One exception: when charismatic "prophets" led the mindless worship of Trump they turned from searching for an authentic Christianity as charismatics to betraying their faith and faithful as charlatans. No excuse.
