Jack ... why reach the merits? The little Rexist can be dismissed by a metaphoric 12(b)(6) motions.

Is that the same Harvard U.S. constitutional law professor who not so subtly suggests that Madisonian republicanism might just be the work of Satan?https://twitter.com/MrWBond/status/952082874680913920?s=20 …

This strikes me as dismissive of the significance of political theory. Quizzing AV on his policy positions is not likely to be useful. Understanding his view of legitimate political power is.

He has been building the argument, right here on Twitter and in other public fora, for several years. And he’s been very clear that it’s a “right” take on the Crit project. I don’t get why the Atlantic piece surprised or confused anyone.

Vermeule is most certainly on to something important: His post here captures well the genuine hunger felt by many — myself included — for debates about truth and not merely autonomy and rights. https://thejosias.com/2018/07/19/according-to-truth/ …

But he should realize that we who (like him) want pursuit of truth w.r.t. values (and resolution of those debates, not just seminar chat) also want reassurance that his preferred regime doesn’t foster Mao-style re-education, loose-cannon cops, censorship of argument, etc.
