Several people have said that Trump knows more about what the state of Texas needs than actual Texans.

for funding to reopen govt, and against money for wall

Has he even bothered to answer why? He also voted to end the shutdown without border funds..
-
He has many times criticized it as an ineffective and costly option, and endorsed technology & more agents, resources. Also, many private landowners & parkland interests in his district oppose a wall.
-
Thank you, since I'm not in his district (I'm in North Central Texas) we don't always get the rest of the story. I had not seen anything on his twitter account to reflect his voting records..
-
That is because he wants to keep it all quiet since he is a dependable partisan hack

Hurd is also a former CIA Officer who can be trusted to be a greater national security expert than Trump
-
Hurd squandered away his IC cred by idly standing by as a member of the HPSCI where Nunes and Gowdy made a mockery of congressional oversight (likely criminally obstructing justice in doing so)
-
Agreed, but losing credibility is not the same as losing expertise.

For most folks who actually live on the border, a wall is the last thing they want. It's going to cut a lot of ranches right in half, and they know for a fact that there's no real danger from border crossings.

More fun facts: More than 2 million acres of border lands are owned by SOVEREIGN Native tribes who maintain their own border controls.

To be fair, his Democratic opponent was also against the construction of a wall. Many border Texans have been speaking out against the wall since it was first proposed on the campaign trail, especially those who will lose land...
-
The wall was never a serious proposal. Bannon suggested it to Trump as rhetorical shorthand for talking about immigration policy on the campaign trail. But Trump's reptile brain will never let it go and now the GOP has to humor him until he's out of office.

Pretty sure he was one of the five or seven w/e it was R reps to vote for the bills to reopen with no wall last night too.
-
He most certainly was!

No doubt he is the one qualified/knowledgeable R voice to consult with about the best way to protect the border, and exactly the one R voice the WH & other Rs will ignore.

Additionally, he was one of the 7 Republicans who voted with Democrats against wall funding and to re-open the government. I wish we could hear more from him, his perspective is interesting and important.
-
He and Beto are tight. They drove from TX to DC at least once. Have become close.
-
I heard something about that after it happened. Didn't they live-stream some of the trip on fb? I would have loved to listen in, think they are both really the kind of ppl I want to see in office.
-
I heard Beto talk about it. He said you really get to know someone that way and helps him be a Congressman.
-
I completely agree. Beto seems to understand what it takes to actually create coalitions and I think that's essential to get anything done in gov't, as opposed to the current president who doesn't have a clue, IMO.
-
WAPO has story out tonight that fat-ass had no idea what the government actually did until after he shut it down. Shoots from hip, listens to no one but Putin.
-
I just read that story, it is truly terrifying to think about the degree of sheer stupidity in the White House.
