      I played through almost the entire game with a walk-through and I think the mark of a good adventure game of that era is that you can do so and it's still good

      By that era I mean graphical adventure games from their inception to when they basically stopped making them in 1997 because they were nearly all godawful

      Absolutely. I'm still amazed I beat the first three Monkey Islands, Day of the Tentacle, LOOM, King's Quest V, and Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within, all in the days before GameFAQs and easy internet access.

          At least the weirder Monkey Island puzzles still had cartoon logic to them. Like in Curse, you had to get a gold tooth out of a restaurant without the owner seeing. So you stuck it in a piece of gum, inhaled helium from a balloon, then blew a bubble and it floated out the window.
