Can’t think of a ton of examples off the top of my head but I’ve noticed a trend of taking some old media property that had a vaguely progressive element in it that was treated for laughs that when rebooted gets taken actually seriously. Chucky’s gender fluid kid for a recent one

I just rewatched Seed and the kid's gender isn't really played as a joke in that either. It was just bizarrely ahead of its time.

Bride and Seed are both comedies for sure. Glenda's identity is the premise though, not a punchline in and of itself.
