What is the best way to listen to playlists of audio files stored on your phone? This is surprisingly hard

I use AIMP for Android, works ok. It's no winamp but it does the job

You could do it on an iPod with iTunes, I'm sure. The problem was that the iPod turns your music library into Swiss cheese and you have to get some janky program to organize it into proper folders again.
