Initial viral load is so important that it was once the sole difference between contracting smallpox and being immunized against smallpox. The exponential growth of a disease means that if you get 4x the initial dose, you've lost time equivalent to two doubling periods.
Those initial doubling periods are where the virus does the least damage in absolute terms. If your system gets working on it early, the overall growth is slowed. By having your indoor close-contact conversations you risk jumping yourself into a more severe stage of disease.
