A huge proportion of anti-leftist criticism is picking some figure like Berlatsky or Bob Chipman and saying "This is what all leftists believe even if they won't admit it". Which is especially ironic because most of the people doing it produce the same sort of risible hot takes.

I think in his perfect world he'd be allowed to personally sort the good from the bad and gas the rest. The basis he uses for his aesthetic judgments in this regard are not hotly contested among liberals or leftists. Berlatsky takes a side on live liberty/security questions.
