If pandemic skeptics were just wrong, if they hadn't really challenged orthodox, bureaucratic conclusions through impressive displays of effort and rigor, it would be bearable. But to do all the right things and still come to the totally wrong conclusion? That's a real nightmare.
I'm old enough to remember when the WHO and CDC thought Asian people were just being silly with the mask thing, and seeing the argument play out with the sides reversed there was no question in my mind that any doc would go into a fever ward with a cloth mask over nothing.
Think of how many skeptic doctors (and those do exist!) did, and told people "they make me do this". Sometimes the establishment and its order come in handy.
