If I'm thinking of the right email, it was Fauci treating a lab leak as a plausible explanation. I dunno what Trump said about it but yeah it's probably Trump being Trump.
No, and it probably won't be. The only way I can imagine to conclusively verify it would be to find records of SARS-2 at the Wuhan lab. If they ever existed, they would have been destroyed in January 2020.
